WABI SABI

The Japanese term “Wabi-Sabi” can be defined and interpreted on many different levels of its aesthetics theory.

For our product philosophy, starting with material sourcing and ending with the longevity of a product we have decided to focus on the acceptance of the natural aging process of products.

Our goal is to achieve the most beautiful and unique patina with every single product and to remind consumers about the story behind every little scratch and wrinkle.

In our contemporary culture, Wabi-Sabi has been embraced as a pleasure in authentic expression, natural materials, rough edges, imperfect glazes, even deliberate flaws.

In our case it stands in clear contrast to the characteristics of the fast fashion industry with its mass-produced uniformity.

CIRCULARITY & ‘MOTTAINAI’

Mottainai has been the go-to admonishment for waste in Japan for centuries, representing a meaningful connection between item and owner.

Focussing on the essence of objects, it encourages people to look beyond our throwaway culture and value each item independently, adding the fourth “R” of “respect” to the well-known mantra of “reduce, reuse, recycle”.
